The hotel has 551 deluxe rooms and 49 suites, 41 of which are arranged in spectacular tier
fashion on the northern and southern rims of the hotel.
85 of the deluxe rooms are reserved for Executive Club guests, 139 have private balconies,
50 have interconnecting doors for family flexibility, 48 have the addition of a sofa bed,
and two rooms are especially equipped for disabled guests.
The additional private balconies not only provide extra facility, but also
add a human touch and help reduce the scale of the building.
A regular bus service to the city center allows shopping trips to the colourful Gold
and Spice souks, or the numerous ultramodern shopping malls which make Dubai the shopper's
paradise.
Visits can be arranged to any of three championship golf courses, and in the cooler months
of winter - to horse race meetings at Nad Al Sheba or camel racing at nearby Jebel Ali.
As part of the hotel's 'natural flow' design, the lobby also leads to a sweeping, two-tier
Colonnade curving gracefully more than 120 meters along the beach side of the hotel.
The Colonnade is the 'social heart' of the hotel. Its two pillared floors provide pleasant
pedestrian walkways which invite hotel guests to stroll and chat.
The ground floor of
the Colonnade is the main food-court area of the hotel, offering 24-hour service from four
centrally-situated outlets.
Twenty-four retail units are located on the two floors of the
Colonnade, including fashion boutiques, jewellery shops, a mini department store, and other
shops selling antiques, crystalware, electronics, photo supplies, flowers, books and stationery.
There is also a car-rental office, a business-services office and a travellers' booking-office.
Guests who yearn for the adventurous taste of "real" Arabia, can enjoy four-wheel-drive
expeditions into the high-dune country of the desert, or to the Hajar mountains.
"Our guests can have the best of both worlds", says group director of sales and marketing
Andy Abram. "They can enjoy all the resort aspects of the hotel while our location means
that Dubai's other tourist attractions are all within easy reach."
