    The international high mountain resort of Pamporovo is located just 15 km away from Smolian and 70 km to the south of the city of Plovdiv. The winter here is a paradise for skiers and the summer - for the mountain hikers.

    Many paths, suitable for mountain hiking, start from the road connecting the town to the resort and lead to the peaks of Turluka, Chernoka, Nevyastata, Orlitsite, Murgavets. The views are breath-taking, overwhelming panoramas. Due to the excellent climatic conditions, the snow covers the ten ski-runs from December to April.

    There are 7 hotels in Pamporovo which can accommodate about 1500 people and many places of entertainment - all these are going to be privatized. Companies from the whole country own recreational facilities which accommodate about 4000 people.

    Pamporovo is situated 1650 m above sea level, at the foot of peak Snejanka (1926 m). The climate here is under the influence of the Mediterranean, with annual average temperature of 8^oC, with an average of 270 sunny days and about 150 days of the year are with snow cover.

Eight ski runs of all categories of difficulty, with altitudes ranging between 1926m and 1450 m , run down Snezhanka Peak . Lift network of total lenght 10 km and service capacity of 6,800 people per hour . 120 experienced instructors train beginners and advanced learners in 5 levels of Alpine skiing and 2 level cross-country courses. The ski school provides a day kindergarten for children aged 5-8.
