
Albena is the newest and the third biggest resort in Bulgaria.
It is situated in the
northern part of the Black Sea coast, 45 km away from the International
airport of Varna. The resort lies very close to a magnificent forest and it
offers its visitors a perfect combination of fresh air, fine sands, clean
water and plenty of verdure. The coastline is 7 km long. The climate is
temperate continental. During the summer months the average air temperature
is 23-28 oC. The average water temperature is 20 oC and
in July and August it reaches 26 oC.
Albena is the ideal resort for a family holiday. It offers
a lot of attractions to people of all ages.
Supporting the Australian and UN's "Clean up the World" appeal, in
September 1994 was held an international campaign for cleaning the environment.
The opening session was in Albena - one of the cleanest Bulgarian Black Sea tourist complexes.
The Blue Flag Movement was the organizer of this campaign in Bulgaria.
Since 1993 Bulgaria has been an associate member of the world-wide Blue Flag Movement.
Albena is the first tourist complex which applied for enlisting in the Catalogue of the
ecologically clean resorts. Its executive director is a member of the National Nomination
Jury, authorized to recommend candidates to the European Commision. An agro-ecological
laboratory, based in the resort keeps close control on the contents of nitrates in all
agricultural products offered.
