The dust of the patriarch of the Bulgarian national revolution G. S. Rakovski has found eternal rest in the white stone panteon raised in the centre of his native town, solemnly opened on October 10, 1981, the date of his 160th birth anniversary.
The impressive building of stone, iron on the well laid out square of the "capital of the Bulgarian National Revival period", creates a feeling of closeness with grandness of a long past period.
A high vault. A broad marble staircase. A sarcophagus with the earthly remains of the great Kotel son whose short life is a record of the history of the national revolutionary struggle. Golden letters are inscribed in granite: G. S. Rakovski 1821-1867. A bronze flag with the sacred words "Freedom or Death". The sword woven in rebellion also rests here.
Opposite the sarcophagus stands the bronze sculpture Resurrection, designed by Merited Artist D. Boikov and symbolically revealing the idea of the hero's immortality. Let's recall his words: "The fatherland fighter is alive! A monument is raised on his remains!"
